Perhaps the first problem the scientist has with the Bible is the book of Genesis, and the creation myth described therein. This is a complete mystery, with much room for doubt when viewed without the Sophia hypothesis. The most strikingly illogical concept is that of singular creation. When GOD is said to have made man in his own image, he made them male and female. If he made only man in his image, then why does he know just what Adam needs when he creates woman? If GOD found all he needed for creation within himself, and himself alone, why was man not created this way? Why did Adam ever need a woman to be his mate? At that point in the story, GOD was more concerned with the loneliness of the man, rather than the reproductive necessity of his creation. GOD is a superior being, so he didn’t need any sort of companionship beyond the lessor beings which he created. Why would Adam then, have needed any more than to be the master of the rest of the beasts which were lessor than he? I suppose it would be a good idea, since I am attacking scripture that many people consider to be sacred, to explain that these questions are only meant to point others to the truth. If your soul is so pure that you need not any other to exist upon this planet; you have no need of companionship with others; no need for sex, or to produce any offspring; then you are probably able to accept these scriptures without any deeply held doubt as to their truth. If you choose to believe that GOD has made you less than his child, then that too might help you to find your way to him. If not, then this idea is but one way to find faith that few can know. As I have stated before, I found much to be desired in what I thought my faith should be, until I asked for more.
Instead of questions without easy answers, let us now enter into the philosophy of creation with the other possibility: that Sophia was indeed with the LORD from the beginning. After all, was the woman not the first thing which GOD created for Adam? Why then would she not be the first thing he created for himself?. This is what Solomon’s work would tend to support. She was his first creation, perhaps she was also his favorite. What difference would this make in the established teachings?
It is very metaphysical in nature, the whole creation scenario. We shall delve into intricacies of that subject at another time. For now, let us just assume that it did require two to come to be, and try to see what other things can be explained from such an inference. Let us suppose that in the beginnings of the first tribe of human beings, there was both the presence of a GOD and a GODDESS. What sort of reality would that have been? As with any relationship between a man and a woman, there would be conflicts. How would that affect the first people to live upon the earth? Even if GOD did create this mate of his, he had to make her an equal of some sort to get what he wanted out of her. We know he is a jealous GOD. We know he wants to be in control, and tolerates no transgression of his will. He is arrogant and very egotistical – after all, he is GOD.
What if his mate
was to decide that not enough credit and glory was being given to her for
her part in creation? As in any earthly family, the parents must agree
upon what the children shall be taught, for they cannot be trained in two
different directions. Maybe this Sophia was all loving and respectful of
the LORD in the beginning when they were alone. Maybe she changed upon
becoming a mother, as many other women do. Maybe she sat back and let the
LORD do his thing, hand down his law, command his attention and glory.
Maybe she was not at all happy with the new position she had in creation.
Even if she was just one of his creations as well, perhaps she felt like
he could not have created these children, or this world, without her. Perhaps
she was most dissatisfied indeed. She might have been the type to take
her place as he bid her to do, becoming once again a part of him, sharing
his place invisibly, sharing his name and surrendering her place and sense
of self to him. If she did not, though, then it explains a few other things
that human beings have wondered upon from the beginnings of this religious
order.
