Gnosticism:

Many who may read this, will be pondering the reasons behind the current stories about the new sects that actually worship Sophia as a divine being. The idea of this is considered blasphemy by many, and it very well might be, but let us instead look at the possible reasons behind the theory. Only then can we really pass a fair and just judgement upon such thoughts. If the idea is to be one with GOD, then the surest way to that end is to know the most about Him that you can. It is the same in any relationship, in this world, or the next. Knowing about GOD, and the knowledge of GOD, is not a new subject at all. It goes back many centuries, to the very beginnings of the Religion of the GOD of Abraham, and the history of the Jewish mystics. There were once sects of believers known as gnostics, who were interested in this very purpose. The Gnostics were all about the knowledge of GOD, and felt that the true way to be one with the Creator was through knowing Him. The term I use to identify modern Gnosticism is hybrid word: Technotheology. This is the study of the realm of scientific Divinity. The greatest enemy of this philosophy has always been the organized church. Throughout time, the gnostics, and those of similar belief, including true Christians, have found themselves persecuted and exterminated for contradicting the teachings of the church. It is unknown at this point, what reaction the church will have to this idea of Sophia, or the postulations put forth in this work. Most likely it will be as it always has been, for the institution of the church is not a living thing as the Savior they claim to hold true to.

This following of Gnostism was of the elite thinkers and philosphers, it was a type of people who were bound by logic and reason, which has never gotten along with the church. Those who are bound by the teachings of the church may not understand, but those who are not will know that the church has never had any room for science and mathematics. The kingdom of GOD was not in heaven only, according to the doctrine of the church. If the masses were to follow the Bible, they would not need to succumb to the will of the church. The originators of the institution of the church were more interested in their own earthly kingdom than they were in heaven. That is a story for another place than this though, and will be dealt with more in further chapters. The point is simply that the church did not want the LORD to lead the people to him, the church elders wanted that power. Studying, reading, asking questions, was not good for the church fathers, who wished to control how and what people thought about GOD.

What is it then, that has drawn a following to this entity of Sophia? The most obvious is definitely the possibility that GOD was not alone in the creation of the universe as we know it. There is no known place in reality where a man is capable of developing anything beyond and outside of himself. GOD was not alone when He was in the will of creating the universe. He had a Mate; a partner of the opposite sex with Him as he began this Creation. Proverbs, chapter Eight, verses 22 through 30, are very potent in substantiation of this belief.

"The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him."

The church has fits about this because they want to believe that GOD is all and everything, that He simply spoke, and it all came into existence. Somehow, it makes GOD seem less powerful if He was not alone for the creation. To persons of reason and science, it is far more believable that He was not. This does not, in any way, suggest that GOD did not create Sophia as well, but still the possibility is too threatening. If any female is going to have divine status, it must be the Virgin Mary, who is not nearly as important as Sophia potentially is, as the virgin is a mortal being.

The next thing to consider about these writings of Solomon is why he would go to the length of writing Sophia into a relationship with GOD if it was just to be as a lesson for his son? One cannot help but find the possibility that this is not just a play for teaching morals to his son, but an understanding of pre-Genesis knowledge that only one such as Solomon could have been gifted with. To those that have some knowledge of the real world around them, this is fresh information indeed. It brings the Creator into the creation in a natural and believable way. Nothing else on this planet, or in all of the universe as we know it is able to create life or even the slightest motion without a balanced pair of opposing forces. By directing our thoughts along these lines, there are many other mysteries that can be theorized upon. In fact, just about every question that one might put to their minister, pastor, bishop, or rabbi, that he would be unable to answer satisfactorily, could be answered with the things that will be revealed to us.

Sophia is a very simple idea that unlocks many doors that cannot be opened otherwise. As Christians, we are taught not to ponder the questions that the church cannot answer. We are told that it is not important for us to know. We are told that our faith and belief should be blind and without any question, even though this is not the best way to trust anything. If we immerse ourselves in the false, then we shall accept the false, for we shall know nothing else. If none of us knows any different, then we reinforce the false in each other. This is a poor basis for religion, but one which suits the church. Do we wish to be accepted by others, or by the LORD? That is the question that you must ask of your deepest self. Do you really believe that all those people at church are going to be saved? Do you really want to spend eternity in Heaven with any of them?

With this new key, we can understand more about GOD than ever before. I believe the information that I have found makes Him far more important than I ever imagined. Finding limitations to the power and influence of GOD does not at all make Him weak. I already know from my life that His power is most certainly limited anyway. Even with limitations, there is no question that He was responsible for all of creation. With these limitations, the idea that He created it all is that much more fantastic, because it is real! It is no longer a fantasy or a myth that I must accept for lack of a better explanation. It isn’t some story that I try to convince myself of for fear that I might be eternally damned for failure to have faith. I don’t have to sit and wonder, and plumb the depths of my soul in question. I do not worry that I may not truly have enough faith, or enough belief to find my way to Him when I die. It is the most comfortable feeling one mortal may experience in life. It is no wonder to me that there are those who are willing to risk the wrath of the church to pursue such wisdom. There are those who fear questions, but what they really fear are the answers. While a question may be solved by a single answer, an answer is the doorway to possibly infinite further questions, and each new answer only brings one closer to the end.

So let us set out with great expectations to find the true nature of this one called Sophia. Let us look high and low. Let us consult all available resources and test every theory. If GOD is real, we can prove it. If any idea or thought, any article of faith or belief should be false, then it will be apparent to the righteous. For had not GOD intended us to know the truth, we would not possess the desire to do so, and since we do have the desire, it is wrong to let it not be fulfilled. For this is the realm of the Divine: that of heart, soul, spirit, mind. It is not sin to desire therein.
