Magickal Arts:

This is not a page devoted to ritual and practice of traditional Magickal arts.  This is definitely "non-traditional" and respects little of the old school teachings.  This is due, for the most part, to the massive advances that the world has seen from rapid technological improvements in the past half of this current millennium: Approaching the year 2000.

This is not an attack upon the Magickal traditions that have come to be in the past 500 years or so, but rather a call for them to wake and find themselves in today.  Please keep that in mind as you view this writing.

Most of what WE, as aspiring MAGI have come to know of was discovered in the years since about 1500 AD.  Before that time, most of the Magi were very secretive, and held very much to the code of the Magician:  To KNOW, To DARE, To ACT, and To KEEP SILENT.  These four Laws governed them from the earliest times, and kept the wisdom and knowledge that was bestowed upon them as the secrets that they had to be.  Remember, that in this period, the false holy kingdom of the Church was struggling for power, and utterly destroying any known source of ANYTHING that was contradictory to their philosophy.  They absorbed the pagan tradition into the dogma of their new order, and executed the wise men to whom the TRUTH had been verbally passed down to for ages.  The Empire of the Romans would not die easily.  They would turn the last legions of power upon not the masses who besieged them- but the Minds that had led the masses.  Individuals are far easier to remove than the hordes that follow.  ( It is a lesson to those who keep wisdom a secret. For our kind has been guilty of allowing our own destruction.)

Those who knew of the Occult: The Hidden Mysteries:  have thus died with them.  They gave the common people the Symbols, and the Rituals, and the Ideas, but never the whole truth.  And so were the infidels able to murder the masters, and take these symbols and rituals, and reconstruct their meanings, without the common man ever able to know that anything had thus been lost. I cannot say whether it is fortunate that some of the Magi were able to write down what they knew or not.  Because they did, we are able to find many of these magical tomes intact today.  On the other hand, so much of it is of so little actual and practical value to us today, and it is taken far too seriously for what it is.

There seem to be two different schools of thought concerning the modern practice of magic, and these are nearly diametric opposites in philosophy.  The first school, I will call the traditional school, is of the belief that the unknown and hidden powers of the Mind and Soul are the keys to the working of magic.  Mental preparations, inscribed magic circles, instruments and implements that have been blessed and enchanted, colors, sounds, incense, and correct astrological timing are the essential elements of successful magic.  In the second school are those of a more physical approach.  These are they who would have been the Alchemists of old, turning their mental powers toward reason and scientific process.

I have no problem with turning Lead into Gold with a Cyclotron.  I have no  problem of calling down down Lightning with a negatively charged magnetic field that I can create myself.  I have no problem in achieving an astral projection with the aid of an electronic frequency generator that I can manifest with my PC.  I have no problem in thinking about a machine that can transform or transmute any type of energy or matter, with the proper code.  All these things are REAL!!!

Concerning types of magical art, I see only two which comprise all areas and practices.  These two are:  Active Magic and Analytical Magic.
